Whitney is up to 9.5.5. She is in the 25th percentile for a 2 month old. Pretty good considering her adjusted age is almost 6 weeks. She is doing wonderful.

Whitney has to have an ultrasound and other random updates with pictures

Monday I am supposed to starting working at a nursing home full time.
Whitney is up to 8.6 now, but she has been throwing up, I mean projectile vomiting so I called her doctor and got her in there today. She has to go for an ultrasound tomorrow to rule out pyloric stenosis.
If she has this, she will have to have surgery. Whitney could also just simply having the flu, but the doctor wants to make sure she doesn't have pyloric stenosis since she is a preemie as this is more common in preemies.
I had my 3 month lab dones, A1C is 5.3, but I am showing signs of kidney damage so I am starting back on an ace inhibitor. Cholesterol was also slightly on the high sign so as a precaution I am starting on fish oil and zocor. Everything else was excellent.
The pictures are my nephew Daniel who will be 6 in May with whitney and my dad.

Toothache
Well Sat I was chewing a piece of gum and my tooth broke off and the filling came out. I had a dentist appointment set up for the 27th because of this tooth. Several months ago it had chipped while chewing a piece of gum but wasn't hurting so I didn't worry right away about getting it fixed. So I call the dental clinic this morning and they told me I could come in as a walk in and wait to be seen after all the regular appointments were seen. When I got there they told me there was a $40 walk in fee so I said fine, my tooth was hurting bad enough that I was willing to pay that plus whatever it was to fix my tooth. So I sit down to an empty waiting room, I was thinking to myself empty waiting room and you couldn't give me an appointment. I sat there for 5 minutes before they took me back. They did an xray, they said the tooth looked ok, except for a little decay but with all the pain I was in the dentist said there had to be more damage. He told me I had three choices, let him fill it but no guarantee it would help the pain, root canal, or pull it. I have no dental insurance and they do a sliding fee scale, so I asked him how much the root canal was $325 and to have it pulled was $40. So I told him to pull it, I am not that vain about things that I have to have a tooth there. So he gets in there to start the work and he finds that the nerve is dead and infected, the tooth is rotten and it is cracked completely through the root, even underneath my jaw bone. He said it is no wonder I am in so much pain from it. He has to bust the top of the tooth off, then scrape it, then drill decay away, then chip part of the tooth before he could get a hold of enough of the root to pull it completely out. He is concerned I am going to end up with a dry socket because he had to drill on the tooth. I hope not.
Other than that Whitney is doing wonderful. She is probably up to 7 lbs now, she will get weighed next week again.

Guardian Angel

My guardian angel and I.
From the first day I found out I was pregnant, I knew I had a Guardian Angel looking out for me and I knew who that angel was. My brother. Jan 8, 2002 he passed away due to hypertrophy cardiomyopathy. His girlfriend was pregnant with his little boy at the time and thankfully he knew he was going to be a dad. He loved kids and was so excited about being a dad. He was so great with kids. It was devstating news when I found out I couldn't get pregnant for me and my family, knowing that Daniel (my nephew) was the only grandchild they would ever have. So when I found out I was pregnant I was in shock. I didn't tell anyone right off due to the fact I wanted to make sure I was healthy enough to carry and that the baby was healthy. I told my parents the same day I found out but no one else in the family knew. I knew there would be a good chance I couldn't carry her to term and I would have rathered dealt with losing her privately with my parents than with the entire family. Then I felt a calm come over me and my brother immediately came to my mind. My brother wouldn't let anything happen to her or to me so I knew everything would be ok. He would have been a great Uncle to her and I am so sorry he isn't here to see her. You know I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want to be a part of a child's life if they have a choice in it. Whitney's dad doesn't want anything to do with her and to me that is so sad.

Motherhood, school, diabetes
Whitney went to the doctor today for a weight check and to meet her new pediatrician. She is know up to 5.8 lbs. The dr said she is doing great and is strong. She can already hold her head up when she feels like it. They told me to start doing tummy time with her. They also detected a heart murmur but said that it is probably benign and it will correct itself in time, but they are going to keep an eye on it because my brother died of hypertrophy cardiomyopathy which is hereditary. She is still sleeping for 4 hours at a time and hardly ever cries. I was blessed with a great baby and she has a great guardian angel in my brother watching out for her.
Blood sugars are still doing amazing. Breastfeeding is doing wonders for them. And now to add into the mix college has started again. Can you say no rest for the wicked. I have to be nuts to be in college while being a single mother, but I want to give her the best life I can. It is nice to have my parents help out with this and my mom will take over her care for a full night if I am extremely tired. My mom also gets up and does the 5 am feeding before she goes to work so that I can sleep from 1 am to 9 am everyday. I don't always sleep that long but it is nice to have it if I want or need to. Well off to bed, I will try to update with pictures later.
